Greg, how long has Tiger been like this? At 15 years of age I have to be concerned about congestive heart failure in such a cat. Either her lungs would be filling with fluid or the space around her lungs would be filling with fluid - a thoracic effusion. Either scenario doesn't allow the lungs to oxygenate efficiently and so our cats struggle to breathe often using their abdominal musculature to assist the diaphragm.
