My 4.5year old cat was losing weight & has been diagnosed

Customer Question

My 4.5year old cat was losing weight & has been diagnosed with FIP (Nov.) They decided this by ruling out other diseases. I got a second opinion and they said basically the same and gave me a prescription for prednisolone.
Scout eats every morning and loves his snacks too. He is perky in the morning and slows down at night. His right hind leg does not seem so strong (He is not jumping so well).
Any ideas? I keep thinking it's not FIP since weight loss seems to be his only symptom. Could the prednisolone be effecting his muscles/joints?

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today.

Since this is a life and death diagnosis, can you tell me how they diagnosed FIP?

Was it just by antibody testing for the virus?

What tests did they do to rule out everything else?

Can you confirm he has a good appetite?

Any diarrhea? Any excess thirst or urination?

When was he last wormed?
