Our cat is a year and a half old coon mix which scratches

Customer Question

our cat is a year and a half old coon mix which scratches the outside area of the mouth where the lower and upper lips meet. He also rubs the area against furniture as though bunting. There is no drooling and his appetite seems to be good on Science diet dental formula and canned science diet hair formula. We are using dentahex to clean the area w/o much success
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Can you see any skin changes in that area? If so, can you upload a photo(s) to our conversation? You can use the paperclip icon in the toolbar above your message box (if you can see the icon) or you can use an external app such as dropbox.com/ You're describing the area called the commissure of the lips which is commonly affected by infection and autoimmune skin disorders in dogs but rarely in cats. I'm not familiar with the term "bunting". Please clarify.
