I accidentally applied Freedom spot-on 45 dogs on my cat

Customer Question

I accidentally applied Freedom spot-on 45 for large dogs on my cat yesterday. She is having seizures-shaking, constant purring, on her back pawing the air, gets up then lays on her back again. I washed her off with a soapy rag and dried her off with a towel. Anything else I can do?

Hello,

I am sorry to hear what happened to Peach. This product contains permethrins, which are toxic to cats.

I would wash her again in Dawn dish soap to get everything off you can, then dry her and warm her.

If the seizures and tremors persist, she may need to get methocarbamol or diazepem to control the seizures/tremors. How is she doing now?

About the same. She's scared and tries to walk but she's "drunk". Seems less frantic when I hold her. Should I give her water with a syringe?

It would be good to keep her hydrated. Even better would be going to an emergency clinic for evaluation, medication, IV fluids. How long since she got the permethrin applied?

I washed her off again and she's trying to lick herself dry. Water to her?
Expert:  Rebecca replied 10 months ago.

Yes, getting water and liquids into her is a good idea.
