Customer Question

I have approximately 6 month old strays that I have had for approx. 4 months. They went into heat about Dec 28 and Jan 1st. I have them in a heated garage with no outside access unless the door is open. How long will they stay in heat? How often will they go back into heat. One seemed like she was out but today she appears to be in heat again. I plan to get them both spayed as soon as my finances allow.

Cats are seasonally polyestrus. That means that unless they're stimulated by a male cat to ovulate, they'll recycle into heat many times. The interval between heats ranges between 13-18 days and the number of heat periods is predicated upon how actively Miss Kitty's ovaries are producing sex hormones. Keep Miss Kitty confined! I can assure you that she's attracted the attention of neighborhood tom(s)!
