Customer Question

Customer: Hi, I'm Bob . My cat seems to want to vomit but can't get it out . He acts like he has the "mouth-wateries". He's been hardly eating or drinking since.
JA: Thanks. Can you give me any more details about your issue?
Customer: Of all the cats we've owned he has had hairballs come out . He is about 9 yrs old. I've been trying to give him some laxatone by putting it on his paw . But he has only taken a very small amount so far . I gave him some this morning and immediately upon eating it he tried to cough or vomit .
JA: OK got it. Last thing — JustAnswer charges a fee (generally around $19) to post your type of question to Cat Veterinary Experts (you only pay if satisfied). There are a couple customers ahead of you. Are you willing to wait a bit?
Customer: o.k.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today.

How long has he been gagging/retching?

Is he able to eat or drink? Can he keep water down?

Are his gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?

If you press on his belly, does he have any discomfort, tenderness, or tensing?

Could he have eaten something he should not have (ie bones, toys, plants, chemicals, etc)?

Has he had any diarrhea?
