Have Cat Questions? Ask a Cat Vet Online.
Hello. Thanks for the question.
Vomiting is not all that uncommon in cats. There are many possible reasons for vomiting- GI bugs, stress, IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), food allergies/ intolerance, foreign body obstruction, etc.
With just the one or two episodes, I wouldn't get too worried. I would try a dose of an antacid to settle her stomach and hold off on food or water for 6-8 hours to settle her stomach. You can give 1/2 of a 10 mg Pepcid (Famotidine) tablet every 12-24 hours.
If the vomiting continues, then I would get her seen and probably shoot x-rays to rule out an obstruction and get bloodwork to rule out metabolic causes. If that's normal, then we use fluids and anti-emetics +/- antibiotics.
I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
