I have a 12 year old Persian who for the last two days has been having trouble with his hips and his tail is down. He's an indoor cat and we haven't notice any accidents I have made an appointment for later this week but is there anything I can do to make him more comfortable til then

I'm glad that you scheduled the appointment for him. As far as actual pain medications go, there are no appropriate OTC medications for cats. The only safe ones to use are prescription (Onsior and buprenorphine).

Aside from that, you can do a couple things for him. You can use a warm towels from the dryer on his hips and back. The heat can help to warm and get uncomfortable joints moving.

I see you are using a joint supplement. That's a great start. We can also give him fish oils, which may actually be more helpful for the joints than the traditional glucosamine/chondroitin supplements.
