Customer Question

Hi...I have been cutting my cat's nails for years and never once made a mistake. A few days ago I used so.e new fangled trimmer and cut at least four nails too far. While she did whine a little while I was cutting them and there was just a tiny amount of blood and she also acted normally the next day or so today she is off food and water, not using her litter box and is throwing up a watery, frothy substance. Could she have an infection? Is there a relationship between this and her nals? Thank you so much for your help and time...Pam

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian & I would like to help you with your wee one today.

How many days ago?

Does she favor any foot with overly short nails? Any limping, discharge, or odor associated with that foot?

Did you use anything to stop the bleed that she could have licked off?

Can she keep water down?

Are her gums nice and pink (not white/pale)? Moist or sticky?

If you press on her belly, does she have any tensing, tenderness, discomfort, or pain?

Could she have eaten anything she should not have (ie bones, string, toys, plants, chemicals, human meds, etc)?

Any diarrhea?

Hi...I'm afraid I'll have to hold off on answering some of your questions just now as she's gone into hiding and I can't inspect her at the moment. I'll respond as soon as I find her. Thanks, Pam
