Customer Question

My adult cat has been nibbling cat litter . Yesterday we noticed that he has vomitted it out , and overnight he has ingested some more. I have the clumping litter variety , and I have replaced it with news papers today till his problem is resolved. Should
we give him a laxative so that he takes it out of his system ? Please advise. I believe the same can block his intestines ?

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your situation, and wanted to help.

Again I do apologize that my colleagues could not aid you sooner. If you would still like assistance, can you tell me:

What color are his gums? Pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?

Has he been passing stool during this time? Any straining?

If you press on his belly, does he have any tensing, tenderness, discomfort, or pain?
