Customer Question

i found a very malnourished kitten approx 1 lb. weight having excessive diarrhea pouring out of him. Is there anything I can give him to help before I can get him to a vet tomorrow?

Hi there!

I'm glad you're taking the little one to your vet tomorrow; many kittens with diarrhea can get dehydrated quickly so it's important to get him medical care as soon as possible.

For now, kitten formula would be great if you have it, otherwise you can make a home made substitution; see this link for a recipe: http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=576 but you'll need a small bottle and nipple.

Diarrhea can be caused by many different conditions, but diet, stress and parasites play the most important parts. The kitty will likely need to be dewormed, but bring a fresh stool sample with you anyway, for analysis.

Hope this helps!
