I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Thank you for the photo! It demonstrates more than rawness; instead, there has been considerable tissue loss most likely due to dry gangrene. This usually occurs secondary to trauma and interruption to the vascular supply - which is already scant at the end of the tail. In most cases, I'll remove the portion of affected tail to a point where I can close the wound with healthy tissue. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
