Hello,
I am a veterinarian, and will do my best to help.
Cats, especially young cats, will chew on and eat odd things like plastic, wool or cardboard. It seems to be pretty normal for young cats, and cardboard won't hurt him.
Cats that like to chew and swallow long things like string, yarn, and thread can get into trouble if the piece is much longer than 6 inches.
Is he an indoor cat? Cats are hunters by nature, and indoor cats will find things to play with and chew as a substitute for hunting. This is a great website that tells you ways to help our indoor cats feel stimulated and fulfill their hunting instincts and skills:
