Hello! Thanks for your question, I'm Dr. Dan and I'll try to help you. In cats there are generally three useful options. For mild arthritis issues then a glucosamine product like Cosequin for Cats or Glycoflex Chews for cats works pretty well. These are over the counter and well accepted by most cats. For moderate to severe arthritis with normally functioning kidneys, liver and intestinal tract then I'd use a low dose of meloxicam on a daily or every other day basis. For cats with compromised kidneys, liver or intestinal tracts I'd use prednisone twice daily to start then try to wean down as low as possible but still controlling the discomfort. Unfortuanately aspirin at a dose that controls pain is very bad for a cat's stomach and kidneys. A safe dose is not high enough to control pain (only used for blood clot problems). I hope this helps understand the options, if not please feel free to ask more questions. Dr. Dan
