My cat is about 15 months old and she has suddenly stopped eating. She seems hungry but backs away after sniffing her food. She becomesnauseous when we offer her milk ( cat formulation ). She is still activeplays normally. We give her dry food as well as Wellness and Snappy Tom Ultimates wet food as well as steamed frozen tuna and steamedchicken fillets. She is probably just about a kilo in weight. Thanks for any help.

Hello. Thank you for asking your question. My name isXXXXX will try to help.1. When is the last time she ate something?2. Is she drinking water? Can she keep it down?3. If you lift her lip, what color are her gums?4. Can you press firmly into her abdomen? Do you find any tense or painful areas?
She last ate yesterday. She doesn't drink much and I have not seen her drinking today. Her gums are pinkish, white and some red. I pressed all round her lowe abdomen and find no tenseness. She did not react. Presume no pain.
Thank you,I would try treating her for an upset stomach. You can give her 1/4 of a 10 mg pepcid tablet, every 8 hours, to reduce the acid levels in her stomach. You can pop it down her throat. You can also crush it and mix it with water then give it with a syringe. You can give her plain flavored children's pedialyte rehydration drink to help prevent dehydration. She will not drink it so you have to give it with a syringe. If she is not drinking, I would give 1 tablespoon every 3 hours. If she will let you, you can take her temperature rectally. Put a little lube on the tip of a human thermometer and insert into the rectum, about an inch, for three minutes or until the thermometer beeps. Normal temperature for a cat is 100-102.5 F. If she has a fever, there is a good chance she has an infection and will need to see a vet for antibiotics. Also, look around her mouth, with a flashlight, for broken teeth, redness, foreign bodies or anything that would cause mouth pain. Make sure you look under the tongue. If you see anything that could cause pain, then that could be why she will not eat. You can rub pancake syrup on her gums, every few hours, to keep her blood sugar up if she is not eating. She can go 12 hours without drinking and 24 hours with out eating. If the anorexia continues, into tomorrow, then she needs to see a vet. I hope this helps.
