Customer Question

I think I seen a flea this morning...kitties are strictly indoor, but I live in an apartment building w/ carpeted hallways and all my neighbors have dogs...possible the flea came in from the hall. Anyway...I applied their revolution (I admit I'm not alwyas on schedule with it...but they don't go outside)...Cocoa squirmed and it got on his side and he licked it all off. He hid under something so I couldn't get to him to stop licking... do I reapply it?

Hello - I am Dr. Matt -I would be glad to help you with your question.

How long ago did he ingest the Revolution?

How soon after it was applied did he seem to lick it off?

Is Cocoa acting normally so far?

Customer replied401 days and 21 hours ago.

Hello Dr Matt,
it was about 30-45 minutes ago...he ran and hid a few minutes after I applied it and I just checked him, looks like he licked the whole area clean. He is just laying here now, like a normal kitty, still occasionally licking that area. I am wondering if it's okay to reapply, or if I just wait another month. Normally I just wait if he does this because they never go outside and I'm not normally worried about fleas. But I'm a little worried since I think I seen a flea this morning. I have 2 cats, never had a flea problem, they do regular vet visits...this is the first time I've ever seen a little brown jumping bug and I want to be sure they are protected! Cocoa is a Havana Brown, so it's hard to see anything on his fur - except the dandruff...I brush him daily and there's always dandruff.

One more question:

How much does he weigh?

Customer replied401 days and 20 hours ago.

10-11 lbs .. it was 10 lbs and some ounces 6 months ago....he's probably up to 11 lbs, he's an eater!

Thanks for the additional information.

At this time you could definitely give a second dose of the Revolution if you feel like he licked most of the first dose off. At 10 pounds this should be very safe. I would not suspect any toxic side effects at all from applying a second dose.

Also watch him for any vomiting or salivation from his mouth as the bitter taste of the Revolution will sometimes cause an upset stomach.

Overall though applying a second dose should be fine to make sure that he gets adequate protection in case of fleas.

Hope this helps -please reply if you have any other questions.
