Dr Aaron :

Hello this is Dr. Aaron

Dr Aaron :

Is your cat an indoor/outdoor cat?

Dr Aaron :

Is he/she eating/drinking normally

Dr Aaron :

?

Dr Aaron :

When did you first notice the possible abscess?

Dr Aaron :

Where is the possible abscess?

Dr Aaron :

Is your cat currently on any medication/

Dr Aaron :

?

Customer:

I have a 5 lb cat with an abcess on her cheek, swollen. My daughter has oral suspension Penicillan 250MG/5MG. she is both indoor and outdoor. she is eating and drinking fine. I started Terramiacin in her eyes 2 days ago for suspected pink eye.

Customer:

I will do the warn compresses

Dr Aaron :

Ok. Very good.

Dr Aaron :

I would recommend that your take your cat to your local vet for a thorough exam and to make sure additional care does not need to be taken.

Customer:

she weighs 10 lbs. Just weighed her

Dr Aaron :

I do not often use penicillin for cats, but if I were to do so I would likely use 1-1.2 ml by mouth every 8 hours for at least 7 days.

Customer:

thats for 10 lb?

Dr Aaron :

But like I said, ideally I would recommend taking your cat to your local vet. Penicillin isn't my first choice with abscesses...if it doesn't improve definitely take him in.

Dr Aaron :

that would be a dose I would consider using for a 10 lb cat

Customer:

I will thank you, I just don't have the funds to do so right now. thanks

Dr Aaron :

You're welcome. Is there anything else I can help you with this evening?

Dr Aaron :

If not, please click on the GREEN ACCEPT button. Thank you.

Customer:

would it be better to go to the feed store and get the amoxicillan? Fish emox?

Dr Aaron :

if you have the penicillin I dont think there's a reason to switch to another over-the-counter antibiotic.

Customer:

thank you
