Can I use Sulfacetamide Sodium Ophthalmic Soln for my cats

Can I use Sulfacetamide Sodium Ophthalmic Sol'n for my cat's eye infection?

Hi there and welcome to Just Answer!

Yes, Sulfacetamide Solution can be used in cats - the dose is 1-2 drops every 2-6 hours. If you have any allergies to sulfa medications, you should avoid direct contact.

If your cat's eyes become worse (increased redness, swelling, discharge, pain, etc) I would discontinue the medication immediately and contact your veterinarian since animals can be allergic too! Also make sure the medication hasn't expired.

It should be noted that this is probably not the best choice - I would reach for terramycin or tobramycin.

I hope this helps!
