My 15 year old cat recently has been drinking a lot of water

Resolved Question:

My 15 year old cat recently has been drinking a lot of water and isn't eating. She's still using her litter pan although the output of urine and stool isn't very large.

Hello there,

Excessive water intake and decreased appetite can indicate several things in a cat this age. Kidney disease, diabetes, fever, infection, bladder stones and cancer are all possible. Blood tests and a urinalysis are needed to get a specific diagnosis. Many cases can be managed long term if detected and treated early.
