Customer Question

My cat has an abcess above his eye - we always clean and drain them without taking him to the vet and it's never been a problem. This time some of the pus is getting into the eye as it's draining, what can I do to stop that while the wound heals?

Optional Information:
Type of Animal: Cat
Gender: Male
Age: 10

Already Tried:
Cleaning abcess as it drains and cleaning area around the eye with a dry q-tip. Using q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean wound.

Hi, I am Dr. Peter and would like to help. In response to your question, you need to drain the abscess until there is no more puz. May need to do it several times a day. After draining flush with water for about 5 mins. In addition, you can pickup over the counter eye wash and flush his eye to avoid an eye infection.

If you have additional questions I will be online for another 30 mins.
