Customer Question

My cat is foaming at the mouth along with throwing up. He doesn't seem interested in eatting but he is drinking water. The vet in my area closed at 6 PM and we don't have another one in the area. Is there something I can do?

Hi. I'm Dr. Lee and will do my best to help.

Can you tell me a few things?

1. How old is he? Is he an indoor or outdoor cat?
2. Does he have any other medical conditions?
3. Is he on any medications?
4. How long has the foaming and vomiting been going on?
5. When did he have the last full meal?

Customer: replied 7 years ago.

He is an indoor cat.

No, he does not have any other medical conditions.

No, he is not on any medicatios.

He has been in this state for a few hours.

His last full meal was yesterday.

Hi. Thanks for the info.

As long as he is continuing to drink water and able to keep the water down, you can wait until tomorrow. However, if he starts to breath heavily, cannot keep water down, or laying on the side and unresponsive, then you will need to find a vet tonight. So for now, make sure he has free access to water and monitor to make sure he does not vomit up the water after drinking.

Another thing is, make sure that he did not ingest something that he is not supposed to.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks.
