I cannot get my cat to the vet until Monday, he appears to have a UTI (as he is licking himself and straining to urinate and has urinated outside of the litter box which is so unlike him.) and he just recently vomited. Can I do anything for him? until monday?
HiCustomer I'm going to say this in as direct of a manner as possible, you need to get your little one to the ER clinic here as soon as possible. There is a very good chance that what has happened to him is that he has a urethral obstruction. Male cats have a narrow urethra at the tip of the penis and when they have debris come down from the bladder, then can get blocked. They will very much appear to have a UTI - frequent posturing to urinate, but producing little. The fact that he's licking himself and straining to urinate are very, very classic for an obstruction. The fact that he's vomiting also leads me to believe that he's very sick. If he's blocked and is this sick, he will only get worse very quickly. He won't make it to your regular vet on monday. You need to get him evaluated now.
