I recently had blood work done and my #'s came back with Lipid panel cholesterol #215 and LDL 150. I did not quite understand these numbers and what I should do. the dr said they were borderline high. Could you please explain to me a bit what these mean. Thanks

Hello,
My name is***** i have fellowship in field of cardiology and will try to assist you.
If you do not have diabetes or any previous heart problems then only life style modification which means light exercise 5 times a week for 30 minutes, maintaining weight within normal BMI, eating less fat more vegetables and stopping smoking is all that is needed at this stage.
These levels are at limit where we do not initiate medical treatment unless you have diabetes or any previous heart problem.
Let me know if you have questions.
Do rate reply as positive if no further questions, thank you.

Does it matter that my father died from heart disease? also my sodium levels were very low #25 if I am reading it correctly. the dr prescribed vitamin D tablets 1 per week for a month I believe 50,000 mg. Any further advise on this?

Thank you for your reply,
recent ATP4 guidelines do not recommend use of medicine for LDL and cholesterol even if your father died of heart disease.
So not medicine only life style modification should be used which I have mentioned earlier.
I hope this helps.
Let me know if you have questions. thank you.
