I have another question for you. I've seen data that shows plavix is not superior to aspirin alone. Have you seen these studies? Since mom's last cardiac event was a stent 6 years ago (no heart attack) should we consider stopping it? Also, can it have any permanent damage on the platet system (i.e. stop the body from producing platets correctly)?Adam
Answers are for informational purposes only.Yes you are 100% correct. You can safely stop plavix after 1 year after stenting. Some cardiologists will continue plavix indefinitely but there is no data to support this.Aspirin alone is sufficient in 99% of cases. Please don't click "helped a little" or "expected more" as this leaves negative feedback. If you aren't 100% satisfied, just click "continue conversation."
Is there any danger in coming off?
No. Not at all but make sure the doctor says its ok. :)
Thanks. What is the danger of her staying on in ur view?
You're welcome.It's just like you thought.Bleeding risk
How high of a risk. She says she 'feels more comfortable' on it bc she feels it protects her from a heart attack/stroke.
significantly higher.High enough that if there is no good indication for it, it should be stopped.
