    This is not really a mechanical question, but I'd like a mechanics' perspective. I need to buy a car and insure it so that my two teenage sons can learn to drive (and to drive once they've past their test). They would not do much driving at all, especially as they are (or will be) attending Uni most of the year, but when they're home it would be good to have a car that they can drive. My wife and I both have 2.4 L engine cars for which the insurance company won't insure our sons. So we want to buy a small-ish car and have reasonably practical insurance costs. Any ideas on what car to buy and how best to get insurance? Would my wife and/or me need to be the principal named driver on the insurance? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
