Smoke is coming from the range rover when I crank it up but

Customer Question

Smoke is coming from the range rover when I crank it up but stops while I'm drive. DO YOU KNOW THE PROBLEM
JA: How many miles are on the car? Have you been losing oil or coolant?
Customer: 159000 it's not running heat and don't see no oil dripping
JA: What year is your Range Rover?
Customer: Well it's at a dealership for a nice price
JA: Are you fixing your Range Rover yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yeah it's coming as is and I don't want to waste money especially if it's a blow head gasket
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: It's just smokes when you crank it and it's coming from the pipes

Hi. The smoke is coming out the exhaust in the rear? OR are you seeing smoke from around the engine area in the front?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Both

I would suspect an oil leak. The front oil pump is common to leak oil around the front crank pulley.

If the oil gets on the exhaust it will smoke.

Do you think I should buy it or not
Expert:  EricFromCT replied 6 months ago.

I personally would not unless you know it has a good maintenance history, because those are not the most reliable engines.
