2001 Nissan Pathfinder - Removal of Alternator - Help

2001 Nissan Pathfinder - Removal of Alternator - Help
Submitted: 2 months ago.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I am trying to remove my Alt from 2001 Pathfinder. I have removed dozens from other vehicles. I am pretty familiar with this car. I have already removed the belt, lower bracket/bolt. What are other steps to get to other mounting bolts - that I cannot even see? I see one or two wire connections on the rear side and backside. Thanks...bob ****

OK - as I said, I am pretty savvy on working on cars. I got these pictures from AutoZone Website. That may help, but so far not. SO, walk me through the steps. Do I have to take the fan shroud off? I cannot see any way of getting the alt out of the "hole" - mounting location. I cannot move anything to see the long mounting bolt shown in the picture.

  1. Remove engine undercover RH.
  2. Remove side inspection cover RH.
  3. Loosen belt idler pulley.
  4. Remove drive belt.
  5. Remove A/C compressor mounting bolts (four).
  6. Remove cooling fan and fan shroud.
  7. Slide A/C compressor forward.
  8. Disconnect alternator harness connector.
  9. Remove alternator upper bolt and lower bolt.
Expert:  Dan replied 2 months ago.

Yes you have to remove the fan shroud.

OK - some progress. The long bolt has been found and removed It was hidden, and I felt my way to it. How do I access the elect connections? I will keep trying. ideas???
Expert:  Dan replied 2 months ago.

Get it unbolted and pull it out a bit to get at the electrical connections.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Pull it forward? Appears to be the only way "out"...

OK...Thanks...I have all wires disconnected. I re-ask, how do I now get the alt out of mounting hole???? As below???Remove A/C compressor mounting bolts (four). (it is on the ALt Side? Primary Compressor is on other side)
Remove cooling fan and fan shroud. (OK, got to remove this??)
Slide A/C compressor forward. (Again, unless there are 2 comp, the Primary Compressor is on opposite side of Eng)
Disconnect alternator harness connector. (Done)
Remove alternator upper bolt and lower bolt. (Done)

Please comment on my comments - I am not following the A/C Compressor mounting bolts (four) comment??? the A/C is see is on the opposite side from where the ALt is located.
