Customer Question

Bought the SUV used and Sunday while driving it died at a stop light. Now it won't start. I was told ECM was bad and would cost 1200.00 to replace. Only paid 2200 for vehicle
JA: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?
Customer: Not lights just the vehicle won't start. Told ECM was bad
JA: What is the make/model of your car?
Customer: 2004 Isuzu Axiom
JA: Are you fixing your Axiom yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Not going to be able to fix myself, but I did have it hooked up to identify the malfunction codes and that's when it identified the ECM
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Mechanics have the vehicle now and have indicated $1,200.00 to fix

The problem can be a loss of spark or fuel. You can check for spark at the plugs with a spark tester.
You can check fuel pressure with a gauge and both of these tools should be available to you at your
local parts store for rent or purchase.
You need to check for any stored codes in the computer with a code reader or a scan tool.
The code reader only gives the codes and definitions, where the scan tool gives you all
the needed data to diagnose the codes.
