Customer Question

I drive a 2006 chev optra. The diagnostic tool identifies code 0P700 and 0P705. What is the problem?
JA: Just to clarify, what's the exact code? And have you tried to reset it?
Customer: The exct code, accoreding to my son's diagnostic thingy is 0P700 and 0P705. It says something about the transmission but not a clear definiation.
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: No, I have a problem eith the transmission since the car was purchased new in 2006. I took it in under warranty seferal times and I was told either there was nothing wrong or they fixed the problem. The latest was in Jnuary of this year. They said it was fixed, charged me something over $200 and now the samr problem. I want to clearly identify the problem so I can argue with the dealer to finally the thing fixed or put in a new transmission.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: I think that would do it.

Hi there,

I doubt they did much for $200, hence why it is still happening.

P0705 is in the TCM, P0700 is in the ECM.

The ECM code is the ECM reporting there is something wrong in the TCM.

So fixing the TCM code will allow you to erase the ECM code.

Now the diagnosis points to probable TCM replacement, but it could be a poor connection at the TCM connector.

I can give you the diagnosis chart, but I need to know what transmission you have, or your VIN number.
