1999 Olds Bravada 4.3 Full time 4 wheel drive. 105000 miles

Customer Question

1999 Olds Bravada 4.3 Full time***** 105000 miles
Sometime hard shifts from 1-2 gear
Got the p1870 code Looked it up on Youtube and several videos suggested changing the two solenoids for 1-2 shift and 3-4 shift. Dropped the pan did everything mentioned in the videos. Pulled the little clip out , put new solenoids in and replugged the wires correctly. Put it all back together and it will not shift out of 1st. Have reverse has 1st gear and thats it.
Where do I go from here?
.pulled the little clip out

Ok, is the P1870 code still present?

I also need the last 8 of the vin to check for related service bulletins, which I believe there is one for this

I NOW have........the battery disconnected

Ok, let me know if the code returns.

On this vehicle, there is a service bulletin out stating that the P1870 code is for internal transmission component failure - valve body, torque converter clutch, fluid pump, or other issue, and not due to the solenoids.

Once you see if the code returns or not, let me know

The code is clear and still no shifting out of 1st gear.......heading to transmission shop. Not happy with response.

i would think your problem is that new 1-2 shift solenoid you installed,,

it did work before you replace,i would think the new one is bad..both the 1-2 and the 2-3 are the same..remove the 1-2 and install one of the others that you removed,
