I am curious if it might be the security when I hooked the battery up it beeped the horn and it has never done that before

good evening my name is ***** ***** I will assist

did you use new or used pcm?? why did you replace it?? did you have it flashed to your car???

did you check for spark or fuel???

when you turn the key on, does the check engine light come on??

Roy

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it is flashed I replaced it cause it was in the list of items that could be the issue no check engine light and when I hook my I'd scanner to it it will not connect to the car
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

if you cannot connect to the pcm and no check engine light, then there is something wrong with the pcm.

did you communicate with the old pcm????

Roy

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No It wouldnt comm with the original pcm
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

did the light come on with the key on????

Roy

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the check engine light came on it's just odd that it ran before I rebuilt the motor but now it will not
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

ok, then there is something wrong with the new pcm.

I would put back the old pcm and see if you can communicate/ if not check all fuses with a test light for power.

was this a new or used pcm

Roy

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It was used but tested by dealer to be operational tried to comm with the old pm and couldn't
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

good, then it was bench flashed by the dealer. it sounds like you have a power issue to the pcm. check all powers.

check the tps sensor for a 5 volt reference voltage. that will tell us if the pcm is working

Roy

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok so I just got time to check the tps and it has 5.01 volts at the purple wire
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

ok, the pcm is working if it is sending out a reference voltage.

have you gone over all the wiring harness routing and connections???

Roy

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have but I am going to remove the plenum and check everything one more time what seems odd to me is that I have checked for voltage to the distributor and it is there but if I put my volt meter in one of the plug wires I'm not getting any thing
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

is the distributor new or re built???

Roy

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It is brand new
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

is there power at the coil??

Roy

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
how do I test that? remoe the cap and put my probe in the tower?
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

the coil should have a positive and negative terminal. you need to have 12 volts on the positive side. the negative side should pulse while cranking.

do you have a tach?? if you do, does it move while cranking???

you have a new crank sensor as you said. check the connector.

Roy

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok so if I put my volt meter to the one green and orange wire that leads into the coil part of the dist. when I tur the key on it jumps the volts and then zeros out but while I'm cranking it goes to 9 volts
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

jumps the volts???? is it 12 volts???

9 volts is cranking voltage.does the negative side pulsate the voltage. you can better test that with a test light
