Hello I'd 1st suggest removing the glow plugs or sparkplug ( you don't say what fuel type this is) and then wind the engine over by hand to pump out any oil thats trapped in the combustion chambersthen do a dip / oil level check again and drain off any excess then try again to start it
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Sorry its diesel.
Then how do I turn over the engine its locked up. I can remove glow plugs.but how do I turn nine over
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
So my guess is turn over fly wheel by hand
Expert:  Matt replied 1 year ago.
Hello thats right either the flywheel or use a long brekaer bar onto the nut for the front pulley
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Do you mean the nut that bolts the flywheel on..who h means take alot of brackets off to get to fly wheel.
Its a new 22 Hp Massey fergson
Expert:  Matt replied 1 year ago.
Hello I mean on the other end with the pulley and belts that run the alternator etc, there shoudl be a pulley on the crankshaft which you can then turn
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Oh maybe I get it.
The pulley at bottom of engine with a belt connected that has a big nut
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok I all go look at it.
You guys are awesome do you ever get any...Sleep?
Expert:  Matt replied 1 year ago.
thats the one, you should be able to turn it easily with a long bar , if it feels completly solid then there's something else wrong and the rocker covers will need to come off to inspect and / or use a borescope to peer inside the cylinder, I'm in the UK by the way so its 11.00 in the morning here
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I don't think it will be solid.
Do I turn it the same way as the starter does
.
Expert:  Matt replied 1 year ago.
yes thats right
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Then that nut would have to have backwards thread or does it turn that easy.
The flywheel turns backwards easy just not the same way the state turns
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
That's starter
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hey if I take out the glow plugs won't the starter crank it over
Expert:  Matt replied 1 year ago.
Hello
I'd reccommend turning by hand just to double check its all OK
if its moves 2 full turns then yes you can spin it over over on the starter
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ive turned thAT fly wheel bAck and forth its when I put the glow plugs back in it locks up when I try to spin with starter
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
And yes when glow plugs are out it squirts oil out with ease
Expert:  Matt replied 1 year ago.
OK great as its turns by hand freely then spin it over on the starter until no more oil is coming out of the glow plug holes then check the oil level next an hopefully it will then start
