no i hear nothing when I turn the key on I used to hear the pump kick on
You mentioned the inertia switch -- is all the slots to it ok and not burned? Too, wiggle the wires to it as someone tries to start truck. Ford calls this the wiggle test
ok how do you get the enertia switch to trip so I could reset it
hit the side of it with your hand
or the front of it
when you get into an accident BANG the inertia pops up cutting off fuel supply
I wiggled the wires, I jumped the wires, I hit it and reset it and still the pump doesnt run and it will not start.

Check the ground at the EEC for me on the ohm scale continuity--see if you read all zeros---remember to get a good ground
And do you have power at EEC as well.
it goes to zero
yes i have power at the eec with the key on or off
I will Check
Brown hot at all times. White with LB stripe hot only when key is on. Bluewire never hot key on or off

as you can see the blue wire is a fuseable link

do you see the fuseable link label on blue wire?
can you jump that wire to bypass it.
and see if truck starts

put EEC relay back in and pull the Fuel pump relay
The fuel pump kicks on even with the key off but it will not start
I didnt pull the fuel pump relay. should I try it with the relay out
the pump also ran continuously and did not bould up pressure and shut off like it normally does
so the fuel pump ran?
at the schrader valve is fuel coming out
I did check the schrader valve where is that
i did not check the schrader valve
is it by the fuel regulator
as you jump fuel relay see if gas is streaming out
yes fuel comes out of the schrader valve
it kind of runs out, not shooting out
does truck try to run?
Do you have spark at spark plugs?
now when jumped
at feul relay
there is no spark with the relay jumped and fuel pump running
ok, now put relay back in and jump -- do you have spark now?
I wish you have fuel pump gauge
still no spark do i need to go buy a gauge

i pulled and checked all fuses they are all good

can you spray carb cleaner and try to start as you said before, but since you have no spark thsat will not work.
i tried that and it will not start

and the flow of fuel was weak when you jumped fuel pump relay, correct
it did not squirt out
which fuel pump did you replace?

i didnt replace any fuel pumps

both of them are new

Are you sure everything is hooked back up - recheck due to you had spark bow you do not. I need you to disconnect negative side of battery to reset computer
for 10 mins then reconnect and test to see if you have spark
ok everything is hooked back up like it was and the negative battery cable is disconnected. Last February it did the same thing and I took it to a shop and they replaced the computer and it was fine. Lately it has been running kind of rough like before the computer was replaced. I would think the computer would last longer than 9 months
that is where it is headed
remember the good old days when if you didnot have spark it was either the coil or the points. Occasionally the ballst resister would go out and throw you a curve
If there is grounds hooked to metal like CB, Radio aftermarket, ect.. most people think that just because it is metal I can hook the ground here are wrong, see this is an old model and it has power grounds and what I mentioned can blow a computer
The system you have id EEC 5, the power grounds on newer car and trucks are protected now so us Ginny Pigs tested these trucks for Ford
it has been 10 min since i disconnected the battery
Yes I can not suspect anything else but the computer. I checked and rechecked. See the computer is responsible for pulling the ground to EEC and Fuel pump.

good thing back in the 80s this computer was about 799.00 dollars, now junk yard 25.00
I hooked it back up the pump did not run and it has no spark
I would replace the ECU

no usually, depending on where you get it they will need the calibration number on side of drivers door, that is if it is still there. If not, Yes you will need the #

ISSUE:Extended crank time in excess of five seconds, stalling at idle after initial cold
start-up or a rough idle condition in ambient temperatures of 50~F (10~C) or above may be caused by the strategy of the EEC IV processor. This condition usually occurs after soak-times of four hours or longer.
ACTION:Install a new EEC IV processor with revised operating strategy. Refer to the
following procedure for service details.
1.Perform an EEC IV Quick Test and correct service code(s) as required. If no service codes are present and the symptom still exists, proceed to Step 2.
2.Install a new EEC IV processor. Refer to the EEC IV PROCESSOR APPLICATION CHART for the correct service part.
NOTE:AN IDLE ADJUSTMENT WILL NOT BE REQUIRED.
