It is a 2002, GMC Sierra 2500 HD with 24,000 miles. The engine light stays on, there are NO computer codes or any information in the red light at all. It's as if you just turned the key to accessory mode and the engine stalls.

this has happened about 10-12 times starting in July and the check engine light came on once. I immediately drove to dealer so they could see that, otherwise nothing has appeared on the dash except the red light

yes, no power brakes or steering and the red light is on. I coast to slow down then pull over and turn on flashers.

okay, my neighbor who dabbles in GMC repair suggested this when it first happened back in July. We mentioned it to dealer and they frowned on this, and that's when they said it was the fuel pump which they replaced and obviously didn't fix it. Perhaps I should just tell them to replace it?
