I'm working on an 01 pt cruiser and code po605 is present and it's in limp mode

Canuck Tech :

Hi there - let me do some digging...

Canuck Tech :

The solenoid pack is the solenoid pack on the transmission, and the transmission controller is a separate module. The P0605 is the code of death for the TCM. You need a new TCM, and it probably will need to be programmed to match the vehicle - VIN at the very least. I don't know of any aftermarket scan tool that will do this for you, but the supplier of the new TCM (who ever that may be in your area) may be able to do this for you. Canuck

Customer:

Thanks Canuck unfortunately we don't have a local dealer, nearest one is about 40 miles away. I'm going to have him take it to the dealership. For future reference where is the TCM located

Canuck Tech :

In a rather nasty spot - outside of the LF frame rail... Labor time is only .5. Depending upon your scan tool, you probably could do the job if you could set the "pinion factor", and get it into "quick learn". There is no mention of programming the VIN

Canuck Tech :

The job gets easier if the LF tire comes off.

Customer:

Ok i have a snap-on solus and i can set the pinion factor with it

Canuck Tech :

Are you willing to give it a shot? Worst case, it needs to go to the dealer...

Customer:

Yes i'm gonna give it a shop thanks very much you've been a great help

Canuck Tech :

No problem. Any time! Canuck
