Hello,

The info Amedee is giving you is spot on correct. I just did one of these Friday. The Suzuki manual is not very helpful as far as lining up marks. What need to be done is the left bank this is cylinders closest to radiator. You will line up the mark on the crank shaft which is a dot with the dot on the oil pump housing. This mark will be about the 5 o'clock position. With this aligned you will see on the back of cams a flat spot there is a special tool that locks the cams in place. The new chains will have paint marks on them you will line up the marks on chains with the marks on cams one bank lines up on the arrows and one on the dots of the cam gears. Not sure which one but it will be obvious when you time it. Install chain with marks lining up with paint marks on chain. The idler gear has a hole in it you need to be able to see the paint mark on chain thru that hole. If all that is lines up you are good. Install guides and NEW tensioner. Now install primary chain on crank and idler gears same way. Lining up paint marks with marks on gears. Once done install guides and new tensioner. Now that those two chains are on take a wrench and turn the right bank cams to release tension you will feel them ease up install lock plate on cams and rotate crank to next timing mark. It is about 9oclock. Position. Now install this chain same way as first chain you will notice it is on a different set if marks as the first chain. One side is dots one side arrows. Not trying to steal this question just had a hard time understanding instructions myself. Also these motors are very bad about sludging up be careful not to disturb all this as it will clog up the screen.
