Porshe Boxter S: How do I open the Trunk of my Boxter 2003

Customer Question

How do I open the Trunk of my Boxter 2003 if the electric latch doesn't work?

There is an emergency release for the trunk accessed from outside the vehicle.

Jack up the left rear corner of the car and remove the left rear wheel
Pull the fender liner down slightly and look in with a flashlight
About a foot or so in, near the tail light you should see a wire with a loop on the end
Reach in or use a clothes hanger or similar to grab the loop and gently pull
The trunk will pop open.

It is most common for the solenoid that opens the trunk to fail. Once the trunk is open you can check to see if there is power/ground reaching the release when the opener is used.
