gmc yukon: Own 2004 Yukon xl, having issues with instrument

This answer was rated:

Own 2004 Yukon xl, having issues with instrument panel lights, they dim in and out on there own .
Also check tire pressure light is on but tires are fine .
Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

If the only thing dimming on it's own is the instrument cluster illumination and all other lights stay the same then the problem is most likely in the instrument cluster itself. If the BCM was actually sending out a signal for the lights to dim then all lights should follow and not just the cluster.

It's unlikely to be a power or ground problem and it would probably prove tough to do, but load testing the cluster powers and grounds when it acts up wouldn't be a bad idea. It's possible that a poor ground could be causing it but that's not likely if cluster operation is otherwise ok.

If the tire pressures are all ok yet the warning light is staying on then there is a failure in the system and a scan tool will need to be used to see what fault codes are set and go from there. It's likely that one or more of the sensors have either failed or have a low internal battery and will need to be replaced.

Well the rest of the interior also dim in and out like the radio and ac control also unable to discontinue daytime running lights ..thinking it might be light switch headlights flicker also if l leave the setting on automatic instead of on.
If all illumination does dim together rather than just the instrument cluster then yes, it's very possibly the switch.
