i have a 2000 isuzu rodeo v6 automatic transmission and i have a problem with it and was wondering if you can help. when i put the car in drive it doesnt move but when i push the button for the snow then it grabbs it to drive. and i was wondering what and why this happens and is there something that i can do to fiix it. when im at a stop sign or a complete stop i have to push the button again to be able to drive if i dont push the button it doesnt drive at all except to reverse.

tims auto repair :

hi

tims auto repair :

how many miles is on the rodeo?

tims auto repair :

hi

Customer:

hello the rodeo has 150000 miles on it

tims auto repair :

ok

tims auto repair :

are you saying it does have reverse?

Customer:

yes it has reverse but to drive forward you have to push the snow button

tims auto repair :

ok

tims auto repair :

you are saying you nee to put it into low 4wd for it to have drive?

Customer:

when you push the button you can drive forward and drives well but when you come to a complete stop you have to push the button again in order to be able to drive again

Customer:

yes i believe that is the button

tims auto repair :

ok

tims auto repair :

can you drive it out on the road after you get it going?does it shift well?

Customer:

yes i can drive it on the road and it shifts well we also drove it on the freeway and now nothing

tims auto repair :

ok

tims auto repair :

the first thing to do here is to check the transmission fluid

tims auto repair :

it may be low

tims auto repair :

it has no dipstick,,and must be done under the truck

Customer:

no its not low its full

tims auto repair :

ok

tims auto repair :

then,,,i would think..you have a major problem

tims auto repair :

it sounds as if your foward druive clutch frictions may be burnt

tims auto repair :

you really need to let a transmission shop drive the rodeo to confirm this

Customer:

its is not driveable at all now

tims auto repair :

i see

tims auto repair :

but it does have reverse now?

Customer:

it has always had reverse

tims auto repair :

ok,,

tims auto repair :

and,,it will not move in no forward gear,..right>?

Customer:

right

tims auto repair :

sorry,,but,,i dont see an easy fix

tims auto repair :

i think from the way you explain

tims auto repair :

the transmission will need to be rebuilt or replaced

Customer:

it was repaired

tims auto repair :

you have had it rebuilt?is it still under warrenty?

Customer:

do you think it could be an electrical problem with the transmission

Customer:

no

tims auto repair :

does the enginelight stay on?

Customer:

yes

tims auto repair :

can you give me the computer codes/?

Customer:

i took it to auto zone and they ran a test do you think the oxygen sensors have anything to do with it

tims auto repair :

no

tims auto repair :

i would think your transmission is burnt out again,,sorry

Customer:

the computer found only the 4 oxygen sensors to be the possible problem

tims auto repair :

i dont think it is electrical

tims auto repair :

sorry

Customer:

ok so do you think we would have to rebuild the transmission again

tims auto repair :

yes..or replace it with a known good one

Customer:

ok so if i rebuild or replace the transmission do you think this would help out my problem and if so how sure are you cuz i dont have the kind of money to waste

tims auto repair :

yes...i am fairly sure a rebuild will fix you

tims auto repair :

again...when you take it to the trans shop..they will be able to be 100% sure

tims auto repair :
Customer:

i changed the oil filter and the transmission and when i took it off we saw two wires with a long piece of metal going inside the box of valves and the wire head broke when i put it back on it was the same do you think this could be the problem or a problem with it

tims auto repair :

well...if you have a bad wire harness to the transmission

tims auto repair :

you certainly need to fix that

tims auto repair :

but..it should at least go into low gear with no harness connected

tims auto repair :

this is why i think the transmission itself is bad

Customer:

well it doesnt and where could i find the piece to fix that

tims auto repair :

are the wires just broken and need to be connected?

Customer:

its not the wires i bellieve its the metal piece and the metal piece is about 4 inches long and its round

tims auto repair :

i wouldnt think this has anything to do with your problem

tims auto repair :

if it is a metal tube,,you may need to have it welded

Customer:

its a plastic coneector that goes to the round metal

tims auto repair :
Customer:

i cant see that image well could you please try to send it again to where i could see it ALOT better

tims auto repair :

sorry this is the only way i can send the picture

tims auto repair :

to give you an idea of how to fix your hat piece,,i may have to see it

Customer:

do you know where i could find the pieces to fix it cuz its easy to take it off and i could probably do it myself

tims auto repair :

i would think this is something that you may need to get at your local salvage yard

tims auto repair :

from the rodeo or the honda passport

Customer:

the part is inside the transmission and the salvage yard sells it all together and i just need that piece so where could i find just that piece at

tims auto repair :

does it have an electrical plug on it?

Customer:

yes

tims auto repair :

ok

tims auto repair :

give me just a moment

tims auto repair :

ok

tims auto repair :

i would think you would need to replace the internal wire harness

tims auto repair :

this can be bought from transtar

tims auto repair :

i may have a phone#

tims auto repair :

ok

tims auto repair : (NNN) NNN-NNNNe
tims auto repair :

they will have this

Customer:

ok thank u

tims auto repair :

you are very welcome
