tims auto repair :

hi

tims auto repair :

did it have good oil pressure before the belt broke?

tims auto repair :

did you only install a belt?

tims auto repair :

are you there?

Customer :

yes

tims auto repair :

please explain

Customer :

vehical runs fine until tempreture is at normal then valve train rattle seems to be looseing oil pressure

tims auto repair :

ok

tims auto repair :

did it have good oil pressure before the belt broke?

tims auto repair :

are you there?

Customer :

replaced lash adjusters on right side head to see if that would help but no luck then looked through oil fill hole and oil on top of vlave spring was less i feel like it is loosen oil pressure do not no if it had oil pressure or not timing belt was broken so i took the heads to machine shop had heads surfaced and valves ground

tims auto repair :

ok

tims auto repair :

does it have a bottem end knock when it gets warm?

tims auto repair :

how much oil pressure does it have?

tims auto repair :

cold and hot?

Customer :

i have not checked oil pressure with a gauge but you can clearly see oil desipate from on top of valves , oil pressure cold is greater than when hot

tims auto repair :

yes..it alays is

tims auto repair :

but

tims auto repair :

we need to know...use your toil pressure test gage to check the pressures

tims auto repair :

sorry for the typos

Customer :

thats ok not so good myself

tims auto repair :

we need to check the pressure to be sure it is infact loosing allot of pressure

tims auto repair :

how many miles is on the van?

Customer :

I am thinking it might of had a pressure problem before via this may have caused the cams to seize and strip the belt?

tims auto repair :

makes sense

tims auto repair :

and possible

tims auto repair :

your main problem may be worn rod and main bearings

tims auto repair :

or,,even a worn oil pump

Customer :

it 162342 miles and has not been serviced

tims auto repair :

did you replace the oil filter,,i would think so,,,

Customer :

I didn't think that this type of pump would wear that soon ,yes changed oil and increase weigh

tims auto repair :

ok

tims auto repair :

the oil pump isnt likley,,but possible

tims auto repair :

you need to start with an oil pressure test,,,,with a mechanical test gage

tims auto repair :

Oil pressure
1,000 rpm: 89-245 kPa { 0.9-2.5 kgflcm2, 13-35 psi }
3,000 rpm: 363-519 kPa { 3.7-5.3 kgflcm2, 53-75 psi }

tims auto repair :

this is hot pressure

Customer :

I do have all this info thanks

tims auto repair :

ok

tims auto repair :

was the cams seized?

Customer :

no

tims auto repair :

ok

tims auto repair :

well...fact is...we need to start with the pressure test..this will lets us know for sure what is going on

tims auto repair :

i would think the rod and main bearings are worn

Customer :

ok, i will thanks for your time

Customer :

no bottom end noise at all

tims auto repair :

you may not get a bottom noise ,,but,,it may be loosing enough pressure ther for the valves to rattle when hot

Customer :

could the cams have been replaced in the wrong holes at the machine shop cause this

tims auto repair :

no..i wouldnt think so

tims auto repair :

im sure the shop checked the cam bearings/journals ....

tims auto repair :

to make sure they were not worn

tims auto repair :
