mercury marine verado: can i use royal purple full synthetic

This answer was rated:

can i use royal purple full synthetic power steering fluid in replace of mercury full synthetic 0 30? If not what can i use as there is none around right now

Billy :

Hello and Welcome! I'm Billy and i will assist you with your inquiry. Feel free to ask if any further info is needed.

Billy :

The oil you usually use is: mercury full synthetic 0W-30 is that correct (as you did not mention the W in your question)

Billy :

Please confirm if this is not the case.

Billy :

In case you are using the mercury full synt. 0W-30. Then you cannot use power steering fluid instead. However, you can use any brand, however you need to get the 0W-30 grade full synt.

Billy :

Mobil 1 full synt. 0W-30 is recommended......but again any other brand, with full synt. 0W-30 oil would do.

Customer:

The system does not take engine oil, it takes mercury marine full synthetic 0 30 power steering fluid. Not sure why they have 0 30 rating on power steering fluid.

Customer:

it takes power steering fluid, not engine oil

Customer:

will royal purple mix with another synthetic, and operate the same?

Billy :

Ok so it is 0 30 not 0W30.

Billy :

In this case:

Customer:

no, it does say sae 0w30,

Billy :

You can use royal purple power steering fluid (full synt.)

Billy :

Customer:

How do you know that for sure?

Billy :

Apologies for the delay, thank you for your patience.

Billy :

The power steering fluid from purple would mix with other full synthetic fluids. Being also a power steering fluid (same grade), and also a full synthetic, confirms that it can be mixed or used in the place of the merc. fluid.

Billy :

However, if still under warranty, Mercury would not accept this, and this would void your warranty, so be careful.

Customer:

ok thanks

Billy :

You're most welcome!
