The car starts some rough idle but most of all bucking and jerking while driving very strong exhaust odor from rear exhaust pipes.
What are the codes in your computer? What is your fuel pressure?
Has any work been done recently? When did this problem first occur?
The check engine light has not come on at all have not checked fuel pressure.
I would start with doing a basic tune-up, replacing spark plugs, cap, rotor & plug wires, air & fuel filters. Check fuel pressure to make sure it is within specs and holds pressure with key on, engine off. You will need a fuel pressure gauge you can buy at any auto parts store but Harbor Freight tools is the cheapest. The gauge connects to a port in the fuel rail that looks like a schrader valve you find in your tires. Here is a link:

Plug wires should be changed every 50,000 miles or 5 years.
If fuel pressure is not within specs and/or doesn't hold pressure, replace fuel pump.
