Hello, I am Randall. I have reviewed your question and working on it now.

The ISS is locted in the front pump assembly. trans removal and disassemble is needed to replace. A shop scan tool can view live data to and from sensor to help confirm it is good or bad. the wiring exits the trasn on 3 pin plug

Where does it exit. Is it possible it's just the external connection

I do not remember where it exits trans. its a orange/black wire, blue wire etc.. may? be aprt of main harness to trans. I would unplug any connector of wiring to trans , and check the plugs. possible thats it, I can say without scanner hooked up
I do know the plug looks like this. I am thinking its part of the main plug/harness at the trans for all the solenoids etc internal
