I was just told that to replace bad air conditioning unit would cost $900, and they couldn't promise it isn't to late to fix. Does this sound right?

hisorry,,,i was off linewell..it isnt ever too late too fix,,fact is,anything mechanical can be fixed...i would think he is refering to the compressor ccoming apart on the inside and sending metal into the system...if he[or you]replace the pump,,replace the dryer and the expansion valve also..,,metal from a bad pump could clogg the system..but,,if you replace these items as well and flush the lines..i would think it will be finethanks
