does the speedometer work?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Yes it is
Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 2 years ago.
ok
i would think your problem is the shift solenoid block,,this is located near the dipstick tube[this is what the wire harness plugs into],,these will just go bad sometimes...
the slenoid block may cost arount $150+/- at your local parts store
thanks

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I replaced the trans control solinoid block on 6/9/12, didn't fix the problem. Car starts out in 1st, shifts to 2nd & that's where it stays.PO731 fault code is set, it did this every time after I cleared the code.I found in the owners manual that locking into 2nd is normal when there is a trans problem.Just to refresh the original fault codes were PO700, PO715, PO731, & PO732. What else could be causing this problem? Thank you.
Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 2 years ago.
ok
yes,,when it gos into limp..the trans will go to second gear and stay...,,
tell me..when it did shift,,,did it ever go like to neutral when it was time to shift to 3rd?
remove the battery cables and tough the + and the - together just for a few seconds..then drive the car,,it should be out of limp,,,,tell me what it does before in gos into limp......also,,let me know if it makes any noise
thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
It never seemed to go to neutral, felt positively engaged in 2nd. I didn't hear any noise. It did seem to engage more harshly when shifted into gear.I can't try touching the cables tonight,it's 25 miles away.
Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 2 years ago.
ok
get with me when you are with the car,,,,
and let me know
thanks
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I unhooked & touched the battery cables a couple of times. It did the same thing as when I cleared the codes.Starts out in 1st, shifts to 2nd, & stays in 2nd, doesn't hesitate or try to shift into 3rd.It did set PO731 & PO700 this time, everytime I reset & testdrove. I brought it home 25 miles in 2nd gear. It had PO731 once, & PO700 twice.
Expert:  Tim's Auto Repair replied 2 years ago.
please check all fuses to make sure you dont have one blown..
the 731 code is for the gear ratio,,,,,,usally this means the tranmission is slipping...if the transmission is slipping,,it may need to be rbuilt or replaced,,,,,
im going to give you a few tests
thanks

I don't know if it matters but, I have a 2.0 liter engine. Also I can't get the test pages you sent to go up to full view. Please email the tests to me or something so I can access them. I tried to bring them up on 2 different computers and couldn't. Am starting to get a little frustrated at not being able to fix problem.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I can't rate you yet,I haven't been able to access the test information you sent me. I have tried repeatedly with 2 computers to view full image & they won't come up. Could you send them to my email or something so I can access them? As I stated on 6/14/12 I have a 2.0 liter engine in case that makes a difference.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I reviewed the information you send. I removed input speed sensor & tested with ohmmeter, came up OL. New sensor had 750 ohm, installed new sensor, trans works great, sets no codes. Thank you
