hi, my name is XXXX XXX i'm here to help in any way i can.
sorry to hear of your misfortune :(
you have a consstant velicity transmission, which is unique to the smart car.
all other mercedes even the sprinters and vitos use an automatic transmission with a planetary gear set.
most of the aftermarket transmission world is in the dark about your transmission.
your best best is the smart dealership.
with any luck is a simple software of sensor issue.
good luck,
gary
What kind of drive is it
is this type of tranny belt driven.
ok, heres what i know.
i havent worked on a constant velocity transmission in a long time.
so i called an old fried who is the shop foreman at a mercedes and smart car dealership.
there is no belt.
its electric.
heres a tip:
Many of us have found a trick to driving the Smart smoothly. According to Kelsey, “Let off the gas slightly at each shift, like you would while driving a stick, and the gear changes are much smoother (though still not very fast). It's hard to tell when the shifts will occur with the transmission in Drive, so smooth acceleration requires using the gearshift's manual mode.
not sure if thats of much help.
but as i said, as all of our transmissions are now controlled electronically, its time for some help from a smart car expert.
