95 suzuki sidekick rpms suddenly drops when I try accelerate
Country: United StatesMake: SuzukiModel: SidekickYear: 1995Engine: 4 cylinder Already Tried: Fuel filter tps and mass airflow
Is the engine light on?
No
Ok has fuel pressure and spark been checked when this happens? Also has the exhaust been checked for restrictions?
Spark ok I dropped exhaust at header no change fuel pressure check done but not with gage
Ok does fuel pressure seem strong?
Yes
Ok this sounds like it can be a spark issue has this been checked?
With timing lite. I can ease rpms slowly to about 4000 but if l wot only 1500 and rpm fluctuates plus or minus 100 rpms
OK this sounds like a coil issue was this tested?
Only by pulling coilwire while engine running no load
Ok has timing been checked along with the distributor itself?
Timing checked plugs replaced distributor advanced and retarded but no change in symptoms
Was timing checked with a light or physically checked for TDC at cam and crank?
Lite
Ok I would check the timing physically along with compression .If this all checks out you will need to focus on the distributor itself and the coil for this issue. As long as the fuel pump is operating fine and the fuel filter is not clogged these are what need to be checked next.Hoped this helped.Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated.
From the answers I've given does this tend to dismiss ecm failure?
Yes its possible but not as common. These are the next steps.Hoped this helped.Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated.
