Sounded like a cylinoid on starter when tried to start, had it towed ,garage claims engine blown, they checked starter,ok I went tried to start, now sparks are arking from starter area, check engine light is flashing 5 times then quits, then 5 more times. before check engine light came on and stayed on. whats this
Country: United StatesMake: PlymouthModel: VoyagerYear: 1996Engine: 3.3 Already Tried: before we had it towed,it would act as if no battery was in it, you could here one click by starter, switched batteries, same thing, checked old battery, it was still good took to garage, they took starter off claims is good, but now, orange sparks coming from starter area, didn't do before starter was taken off.
Hello and welcome to Just Answer. My name is Steve. The check engine light is flashing code 55 which indicates eveything with the computer system is working properly.Remove the belt and see if the engine turns over. If it doesn't turn over the engine is locked up and you'll need a new engine.
Which belt, the alternator belt, would the van make one ,well like a tap sound near the starter if it locked up
The check engine light flashes 5 times then quits and then 5 more times and quits
Remove the alternator belt and try to start the engine briefly. If the engine doesn't start, place a socket on the crankshaft pulley and try to manually turn the engine over. The engine light flashing as you described is code 55. This means that the onboard computer has checked everything electrically and everything is fine with the system
Well I can try that, but it acts like no juice on the battery to try to turn over
Turn on the headlights. Are the lights bright or dim?
Bright lights, all power on radio, all electrical inside works,we put new battery in it,still did same thing, also had old battery checked, it was fully charged, also had a new alternator put on about 3 months ago
OK good.Remove the alternator belt and see what happens while cranking the engine. There are times that the alternator, idler pulley, tensioner will lock up causing your problem..
Thank you.
