2000 Mercury Cougar: tow..stick behind a rv at 65 mph

Resolved Question:

Can I flat tow a 2000 Mercury Cougar 5 speed stick behind a RV at 65 mph? If not - why and can I do anythng about it?

Hello and thank you for using justanswer.

This vehicle can be flat towed behind an RV. The manual transmission is lubricated with the vehicle in motion so nothing will be damaged. Just make certain the transmission is shifted into neutral and the park brake is released before towing.

Just of confirm - Somewhere on the internet I found a comment that one could only tow it at 55 mph, but of course I can't find that web link again.

So speed is not an issue?

No, speed is not an issue on manual transmission equipped vehicles. Only on the automatic transmission equipped vehicles without transmission fluid pumps.
