Is the engine light on?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
been on since the egr stepper went south
Expert:  Tom replied 4 years ago.
Ok there can be another code stored?Did you ever fix the EGR stepper this can cause this issue.
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
did not fix the stepper. The stepper checks out with ohmmeter but fails to function. Stepper is way to expensive so I run with light on.
Expert:  Tom replied 4 years ago.
Ok if the stepper is not functioning it will cause this entire issue .Have you looked into getting the part from a local salvage yard?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
No. I'll look around if you think it will do any good. Its been running with the engine light on for over a year. Driven daily. 123000 miles, synthetic oil. Starts up after sitting 20 minutes and might run two weeks before another issue.

Yes I would start here next .If not then you need to see if there is an issue with the mass air flow sensor .These are the next steps.Hoped this helped.Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated.
